Sovereign Harbour is about 2 miles from the centre of Eastbourne and is the largest marina development in the UK. Started in 1993 (our flat was constructed in 2003) Sovereign Harbour includes some 76 acres of water with 5 harbours and more than 1300 berths. The twin locks are manned 24 hours a day, every day and visiting vessels are always welcome.
The Waterfront: The quayside promenade with plenty of outside seating makes for a relaxing place to sit and watch the world go by and the boats too! There are family and specialist restaurants, bars, cafes and a variety of shops.
Sovereign Retail Park: With ample and convenient car parking Sovereign Retail Park offers a modern shopping environment with supermarket and larger stores. There is a multiplex cinema and petrol service station.
Eastbourne has been awarded the Seaside Award for its clean and safe beaches for the past eight years and top sunshine hours. Try the tranquil hideaway Fallling Sands Beach at the foot of Beachy Head or the popular stretch between the Pier and Wish Tower. Along the 5 miles of seafront promenade, visit the Carpet Gardens, the Napoleonic Martello Towers (one is now a museum) and the restored Victorian Pier. The town boasts a pretty specialist "Little Chelsea" shopping quarter and, in the Centre, an Arndale mall, market-style Enterprise Centre and a pedestrian precinct. There are 4 theatres, indoor leisure centre with fitness and learner pools and a third with wave machine, fountains and a slide. There is a wide choice of restaurants and entertainment including, for the children, Fort Fun, Treasure Island, boating lake, go-karts, miniature railway, American Adventure golf and crazy golf. The International Women's Tennis Championships are held in Eastbourne every June. The world famous Red Arrows display over the Pier every August.
Sussex coast: Beachy Head is just the other side of Eastbourne, while historic Pevensey, Battle, Brighton and Hastings are also close. Drusillas, Knockhatch Outdoor Adventure Park and Dry Ski Centre, East Sussex National Golf Club, Glyndebourne, Wakehurst Place and various NT houses and gardens are within easy reach.
